Featuring the Flanders Recorder Quartet The 2nd Summer Texas Toot offers early music players the opportunity to work with the finest recorder players in the world in an intimate, relaxed setting that's not possible in larger workshops. Players of all skill levels will have classes from Flanders Recorder Quartet members, both learning performance practices and gaining new technical skills. While the presence of the Flanders Quartet looms large, the four aren't the whole show! They'll be joined by some very fine Texas teachers: Sara Funkhouser and Harriet Woldt of Fort Worth, Becky Baxter and Bruce Brogdon of Houston, Danny Johnson, Frank Shirley, and Jan Jackson of Austin, and Susan Barton of Dallas. Together, thery will be able to offer a varied and adventuresome offering of courses. Read about our distinguished faculty. All this, and the Krummhorn Konklave too! The Texas Toot is a friendly, student-centered workshop. The setting is Concordia University, a small Lutheran college in the heart of Austin. All buildings used for the workshop are air conditioned, and the campus is comfortable and tree-shaded. Its location is convenient to downtown Austin and the University of Texas campus. In fact, we'll take an evening off during the Toot to sample the mellow nightlife and excellent restaurants within a few minutes drive of the campus. On other nights, we'll have group playing, a baroque master class, and, of course, a concert by the Flanders Recorder Quartet. Contemplate the description of classes and general schedule. Review our sensible pricing.
