Music from Germany in the Renaissance and Baroque Choose Your Classes
By most accounting, the Texas Toot is approaching a front-number-change birthday! Yes, starting with the 2005 Fall workshop, the Toot will be 30 years old. More about the 30th Anniversary year later; for now it's time to celebrate the 29th year. Come to Austin in a few months for the last workshop in which the Texas Toot is a twenty-something (which is itself a remarkable accomplishment for any workshop)! The Summer Texas Toot 2005 is a one-week program of classes in Renaissance and Baroque music at all levels. Though some of the highest level classes are for pre-professionals and professional performers and enrollment is limited by necessity, the majority of our classes are open to all, from beginners to accomplished amateurs and long-time performers.
Come inside (click the "Summer Toot" link in the left menu) and read all about it! We hope you can join us in Austin, Texas, for the 7th Annual Summer Toot.
Our world-class faculty this year includes:
Our classes include an array of small, one-on-a-part Renaissance and Baroque ensembles and larger mixed vocal and instrumental groups. The size of the workshop enables us to create classes for all levels of students, from those of modest skills to advanced players and singers. The Summer Texas Toot is held at Concordia University in Austin, Texas. Concordia is a small university affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Its lovely tree-filled campus is conveniently located in central Austin with easy access to I-35 and lively downtown Austin. All of the main classroom buildings are air-conditioned, as is our lodging in Harms Hall. Look at the Faculty and Class sections for faculty bios and lists of classes being offered. The complete schedule of classes and daily special events will be posted here on the Toot Website in early May, and will be made available for those without access to the web via US mail, email, or telephone. We look forward to welcoming you to our Texas Tradition! Choose Your Classes The Texas Toot Summer Festival reserves the right to modify programs and faculty rosters in response to enrollment, student preferences, and playing levels.
