Please join us for the 2007 Summer Toot, with the fabulous Flanders Recorder Quartet! In conjunction with the Toot, there will be several concerts open to the public, including a Masque theater project. Our world-class faculty this year includes:
Our classes include an array of small, one-on-a-part Renaissance and Baroque ensembles and larger mixed vocal and instrumental groups. The size of the workshop enables us to create classes for all levels of students, from those of modest skills to advanced players and singers. This year's joint theatre project is a Masque, directed by Amy Brumley and Jonathan Brumley. Vocal auditions for the Theatre Project can be either in person (please call Amy at 512-627-8926 to arrange; accompanist is provided for live auditions), or by mailing a CD to the following address:Amy and Jonathan Brumley The audition should include a selection of Renaissance or Baroque solo songs totalling no more than 10 minutes. At least one song should be sung in English. Auditions are due by Friday, April 20th so that casting and score edits can be completed. Scores will be sent to selected participants for memorization by May 4. The Summer Texas Toot is held at Concordia University in Austin, Texas (see the page of maps and directions to Concordia). Concordia is a small university affiliated with the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Its lovely tree-filled campus is conveniently located in central Austin with easy access to I-35 and lively downtown Austin. All of the main classroom buildings are air-conditioned, as is our lodging in Harms Hall. Look at our Faculty bios; the complete schedule of classes and daily special events will be posted here on the Toot Website in early May, and will be made available for those without access to the web via US mail, email, or telephone. We look forward to welcoming you to our Texas Tradition! The Texas Toot Summer Workshop reserves the right to modify programs and faculty rosters in response to enrollment, student preferences, and playing levels.
